Recipe growth

Recipe for Growth, Digestive Disease Control (Nosema Disease, Amoeba Disease, Constipation, Diarrhea) and Prevention of AFB and EFB Disease.

All Information based on one feeding for 20 hives

0.5 liters – Caspian Solution Supplement
20 liters – syrup (or 50% sugar water)
2 kilograms – honey
2 kilograms – pollen
0.25 liters – lemon juice
2 teaspoons – antibiotic (20%) for AFB (first two feedings)
1 teaspoons – Fumagillin for Nosema Disease Only (first two feedings)

Mixing Instructions

  1. In a separate container, mix 2 kilograms of pollen and 0.25 liters of lemon juice with 4 liters of warm water. Pollen mixes more readily in warm water.
  2. In a separate container, mix 2 kilograms of honey with 3 liters of warm water. Honey mixes more readily with warm water.
  3. In a separate container, mix the 2 teaspoons of antibiotics (based on 20% antibiotic strength) and 1 teaspoon of Fumagillin with 1 liter of water that is at room temperature. DO NOT use hot water for this step! Hot water will damage the antibiotic.
  4. Allow the pollen solution and the honey solution to cool to room temperature.
  5. Prepare 20 liters of syrup in a large pail.
  6. Mix antibiotic solution with pollen solution.
  7. Mix the antibiotic / pollen solution with the honey solution.
  8. Mix the final antibiotic / pollen / honey solution with the 20 liters of syrup. This mixing step will take some time.

The solutions can be mixed in different ways provided that the following two rules are NEVER broken.

  1. The antibiotic must never be exposed to warm water.
  2. The final solution must be thoroughly mixed.

It is important to repeat this recipe, mixing and feeding procedure a minimum of four to six times in the spring. More feedings will always be better. For prevention the first two feedings must include the antibiotics.
